Amazing concert at CELEBRATE BROOKLYN. ANOUSHA SHANKAR, daughter of the famous
RAVI SHANKAR who taught the BEATLES how to play the sitar ( and they did in 'Norwegian Wood:) gave a mesmerizing concert transfixing her audience with her program devoted to refuges.
With her was her co-writer on drums, her bass guitar and xylophone player and her horn player.
She played a radio recording of the masacre at Croatia. In many of the tunes, she re-created the sound of crying. So the audience could feel the pain . She ended the concert with a lullabye
for her son. to give us all hope.
Sponsored by BRIC, and headed by JACK WALSH (EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR 21 YEARS) and RACHEL, CHANOFF, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR -, they have worked for 40 years to bring
these amazing concerts. to Brooklynites which have include LOS LOBOS and WYNTON MARSALIS. CONGRATULATIONS. !!!!
