Major NY  cultural  institutions have united to present THE BIRDS festival.
In conjunction with the Museum of Natural History, (founded by PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT) and the ONASSIS CULTURAL CENTER, NY, founded by ARISTOTLE ONASSIS, husband of JACKIE KENNEDY,  a spring festival is taking place
based on the political play THE BIRDS written by ARISTOPHANES in 486 BC. All 11 of his
ancient plays survive.  Birdsounds are at the Museum, lectures at the Brooklyn Museum, live birds at NY Historical Society, lecture at NY Public Library,, screenings at Metrograph, and
the sold - out  play  performed at St. Ann's Warehouse theater in Brooklyn.(  I was lucky enough
to get a rush ticket to see the magnificent performance.)
A utopia, a bird- heaven, 2 humans tired of Athenian  politics, seek a better place for collective living in bird city,  In Greek with English translations, dance, music special effects, singing, all combine
for a miraculous, avant-garde production directed by Nikos, Karathanos, which unites man, birds and the Gods., teaching us to live together with nature, to live together as neighbors and friends.
